Bits of History
This is a work/play page of bits I’ve picked up from various places and don’t have a specific page for yet. This information is likely wrong so any corrections are welcomed!

I think the news article on the left is about the original brick school house that later became First Ward on north Waggoner Street.


From what I have read I understand that the school that became First Ward School was a one story building and that the second floor was added at a later date. Then at another later date the second floor was removed. I know from pictures in the 1923 annual it was two stories. I believe the building started as a two story and the second story was removed sometime before 1960. If you have any information, dates, or pictures please let me know.

Clayco No. 1 probably the reason Electra needed a high school. News of it spread quickly and Electra prospered.
